NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry women’s tennis team dropped its final regular season match Friday afternoon, losing to South Atlantic Conference rival Catawba College by a score of 8-1. Newberry heads into the SAC Tournament with a 2-9 overall record, including a 1-5 record in the conference. Catawba improves to 17-5 overall, with a 5-2 record in the SAC.
Catawba picked up a couple tough points in the two top doubles flights and a third by default, as the Indians from Salisbury swept all three doubles matches. Catawba would seal the victory by taking five out of a possible six points in the singles portion of the match.
Up next for both sets of Lady Indians is the SAC Tournament, which will begin at the home court of the higher seed on Tuesday, April 19th. Pairings will be announced by the conference over the weekend.
