The Lions of Mars Hill were able to win two of the three doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead. The Lions would come back after the initial letdown, as the team of Whitney Stroud (Spindale, N.C.) and Maranda Dillenger (Elkin, N.C.) defeated Newberry’s Bethany Poppe (Milwaukee, Wisc.) and Chanelle Clare (Nassau, Bahamas) by a score of 8-6. Mars Hill would pick up the remaining doubles point by default.
The Lions would go on to take four of the six singles matches en route to the victory. Gruber, Stroud, and Hebert would collect points for the Lions. Hartley and Clare would notch points for the Lady Indians in the singles portion of the match.
