Women's tennis battles at undefeated Erskine, falls 7-2courtesy of Erskine Sports Information March 29, 2005 DUE WEST, S.C.—The Erskine College women’s tennis team picked up a win over Newberry College Tuesday afternoon in Due West, S.C. The Lady Indians fall to 2-5 overall, while Erskine remains undefeated at 16-0. The Lady Fleet won all three doubles matches and four of six singles matches for a 7-2 defeat of the visiting Indians. The Flying Fleet did pick up two points by default in the match, since Kim Dreiling (Aurora, Colo.) is still out battling sickness. Both Bethany Poppe (Milwaukee, Wisc) and Chanelle Clare (Nassau, Bahamas) won their singles matches for the Indians. Poppe went into the tiebreak in the first set, emerging with the 7-6 victory. She went onto win the second set in much easier fashion, 6-4.
