NEWBERRY, S.C. - Coming off yesterday's loss to Augusta State, the Newberry tennis teams rebounded in fine fashion with the men dumping Spartanburg Methodist College 9-0, and the women defeating their Pioneer counterparts by an 8-1 count.
The Lady Indians captured all but one match point, dropping #6 singles by a 7-6, 7-6 count. Numbers one through five singles surrendered a total of three set points, and Chanelle Clare (Nassau, Bahamas) and Isabel Kreidler (Tuebingen, Germany) shutting out Spartanburg Methodist in their matches.
Kaushik Sridhar (Lagos, Nigeria) filled in at #1 singles for Jonathan Ward (Sunney, England) and claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory over SMC's Travis Finucnane. Adam Morehart (Woodstock, Ga.) and Anthony Rinaldis (Potomac, Va.) won both singles and #1 doubles matches over the Pioneers.
Both squads ready themselves for February 15's meeting with Georgia College and State University.
