Wolves men finish 15th at Eye Opener
Four Newberry women race as individuals

SPARTANBURG - The Newberry College cross country teams opened their 2012 season at the 29th Annual Eye Opener Invitational, with four Wolves women competing as individuals and the men's team finishing in 15th place at the Roger Milliken Center.
The men's team was the ninth-highest Division II finisher in the race, ahead of four Division II and two Division I teams. Newberry was led by Michael Waltrip, who finished the 8-kilometer course in 28:36.23 for 40th place in the 203-runner field. Nathan Collier finished in 57th with a time of 29:13.10, while Peter Hackett finished in 98th at 31:17.74. Austin Sorensen was 113th with a 32:05.10 time, with teammate Alex Holshoe in 114th at 32:08.99 and Termaine Harvey in 137th with a 33:34.70 time. [Full Results]
In the women's 5-kilometer race, Rebecca Eddy finished in 93rd of the 195-runner field with a time of 22:55.91. Ariel Strong was in 146th at 25:03.45 with Kelley Strong in 151st at 25:34.70 and Hannah Rohrer in 177th at 28:10.21. [Full Results]
The Wolves are back on the course next Friday, with both squads competing in the College of Charleston Invitational at Trophy Lakes in Charleston.
