Kelly Revells named head cross country coach

NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry College vice president for intercollegiate athletics Brad Edwards has announced the appointment of Kelly Revells as head coach of the Wolves' men's and women's cross country programs.

Revells enters his eighth season on the athletics staff at Newberry, having served as an assistant wrestling coach since the program's inception in 2005. He has been the wrestling team's head assistant coach since the fall of 2011 and will retain those responsibilities.

He is no stranger to the running world, as he was the head track and field coach at Herlong (Calif.) High School in 2001 and was on the track and field, cross country and wrestling teams at Lassen (Calif.) Community College.

A native of Summerville, S.C., he was the state runner-up in the 800-meter run in 1994 and 1995, was in the top eight in the state in the mile run those years and was a member of Summerville's 1994 state championship team. He has also been the lead organizer for the wrestling team's 5K fundraiser event the last three years and has been in charge of the wrestling team's conditioning programs.

Potential student-athletes who would like to join the Wolves' cross country squads can contact Revells at (803) 947-2115 or by email at kelly.revells@newberry.edu.
