Newberry drops 7-2 decision to Brevard
Parrish picks up first singles win of her career

BREVARD, N.C. – The Wolves trailed by just one entering their singles matches against Brevard but could never pull even with the hosts at they fell by a score of 7-2.
Newberry drops to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the South Atlantic Conference. Brevard improves to 8-5 and 1-0 in league play.
Marina Ziehe (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Amanda Simmons (Saulda, S.C.) were up first at doubles against Lindsay Hostetter and Claire Dillman. The Newberry duo would fall by a score of 8-0.
In the second doubles flight, Newberry pulled even with the assistance of Shannon McManus (Charleston, S.C.) and Lindsay Kyzer (Saluda, S.C.). The pair picked up their first doubles victory of the season with an 8-4 decision against Jennifer Nyman and Elise Labus.
The momentum of the Wolves was cut short when Sierra Hoover (Duncan, S.C.) and Sam Parrish (Angola, Ind.) were defeated 8-3 by Ellie Bartholomew and Michelle Prata.
In singles action, Ziehe dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision before Simmons was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Hostetter. McManus was outdone 6-1, 6-1 by Prata while Kyzer dropped a hard fought 6-4, 6-1 battle against Nyman.
Hoover lost 6-1, 6-2 against Labus before Parrish provided the Wolves' second team point. The freshman scored a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Bartholomew for the first singles victory of her career. Parrish improves to 1-1 in singles flights.
The Wolves return home to take on non-conference foe North Greenville. The Wolves and Crusaders are set to tangle at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23.
