Newberry women fall to Lincoln Memorial, 9-0
Scarlet and gray fall for the 11th time this season

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Newberry College women’s tennis team lost its 11th game of the season Wednesday by losing to Lincoln Memorial on the road, 9-0.
In singles play, Autise Mortimer (Nassau, Bahamas) fell in the first flight to Sofia Lopez Mimendi (6-2, 6-0); Rebekah Crouch (Saluda, S.C.) lost to Ann-Sophie Indehberge (6-0, 6-0); Kelly Cheesborough (Harlem, Ga.) lost to Katy Oliver (6-0, 6-4); Allison Kyzer (Saluda, S.C.) fell to Emily Osborne (6-2, 6-0); Lindsey Kyzer (Saluda, S.C.) dropped her match against Melanie Smith (6-0, 6-0); and Denise Williams (Blackville, S.C.) lost to Mandy Mills (6-1, 6-0).
In doubles action, the team of Mortimer and Crouch lost to Lopez and Indehberge (8-1); Cheesborough and Williams fell against Oliver and Osborne (8-1); and the Kyzer sisters lost to Smith and Mills (8-3).
The loss drops Newberry to 0-11 overall and 0-6 in the South Atlantic Conference. The scarlet and gray will have a chance to earn their first victory this Friday when they compete against Lenoir-Rhyne at home at 2 pm. Next up for Lincoln Memorial (7-10, 2-5 in the SAC) will be a home match against Georgetown (Ky.) this Friday at 3 pm.
