Newberry women fall to Carson-Newman, 9-0
Scarlet and gray fall to 0-10 on the year

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Newberry College women’s tennis team travelled to Jefferson City on Saturday but lost to the Carson-Newman Eagles, 9-0.
In doubles play, Autise Mortimer (Nassau, Bahamas) and Rebekah Crouch (Saluda, S.C.) fell to Amanda Bartlett and Taryn Cappadona (8-2); Kelly Cheesborough (Harlem, Ga.) and Allison Kyzer (Saluda, S.C.) were defeated by Elizabeth Sneed and Cassie Moultin (8-0); and the team of Lindsey Kyzer (Saluda, S.C.) and Denise Williams (Blackville, S.C.) lost to Emily Sorah and Kylie Elliot (8-1).
In singles action, Mortimer fell to Bartlett (6-2, 6-1); Williams lost to Kate Walker (6-0, 6-1; and Crouch, Cheesborough, and both Kyzer sisters all lost by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
The loss puts the Newberry College women’s tennis team at 0-10 overall and 0-5 in the South Atlantic Conference. Newberry will return to action on April 14th in a home match against Catawba at 2 pm. Carson-Newman (8-2, 6-1 in the SAC) will hit the courts tomorrow to face North Georgia at 10 am.
