Bahamian redshirt freshman was 2-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles last week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Autise Mortimer of Newberry College has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday.

Mortimer, a redshirt freshman from Nassau, Bahamas, went 2-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles play last week as she led the Lady Indians to three South Atlantic Conference victories. The four SAC wins this year by Newberry are a new program record.

She opened the week with a straight set win over Wingate's Sydney Pallesen (6-2, 6-3). In the Lady Indians' road win at Carson-Newman, Mortimer posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tessa Caprio at No. 1 singles.

Mortimer and No. 1 doubles partner Lauren Hartley have won seven straight doubles matches dating back to Mar. 8.

The SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's eight sports information directors.
