Newberry women drop tough match to No. 29 USC Aiken, 6-3Hartley wins both matches February 12, 2007 NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College women's tennis team battled hard against the 29th-ranked Lady Pacers of USC Aiken at the Newberry courts Monday, but fell by a 6-3 count. Newberry drops to 1-2 on the season, despite solid play from Lauren Hartley, a senior from Beamsville, Ontario, Canada. In No. 2 singles, Hartley defeated USC-A's Elly Toth in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4. In No. 1 doubles Hartley teamed up with Autise Mortimer (Nassau, Bahamas) for an 8-4 victory over Mayra Kaefer and Soledad Angel. Newberry's other win came in No. 4 singles as Tanea Miller (Nassau, Bahamas) won a grueling 3-6, 6-4, 16-14, over Marianne Blattes.
