Women's tennis handles Claflin, 9-0by Catalina Ontiveros, Sports Information Student Assistant March 1, 2006 NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry Lady Indians took off running and never looked back, as they defeated Claflin University yesterday, 9-0. The Lady Indians improve their record to 4-4. Due to not enough players on the Claflin team three matches had to be defaulted wins. As doubles action started out the afternoon the number one team of Isabel Kreidler and Bethany Poppe shutout their opponents of Simone LeGrandre and Ebony Steverson, 8-0. The number two team of Lauren Hartley and Tanea Miller did the same with a 8-0 shutout. Throughout the rest of the afternoon the trend continued with Kreidler, Clare, and Grooms each winning their matched 6-0, 6-0. Hartley only allowed one point in each set. Next up the Lady Indians will host #26 Erskine on Tuesday, March 14 at 2 p.m. Newberry 9, Claflin 0 Doubles |
